What Shopify Flow actually does
Flow is Shopify's own automation app, free on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans. Every workflow is built from three pieces: a trigger (the event it watches for, like an order being placed), a condition (when it should act — an order above a value, or from a new customer), and an action (what happens — adding a tag, sending an email, hiding a product). In practice that covers things like tagging repeat customers automatically, emailing your warehouse when stock drops below a set level, or holding any order Shopify flags as high risk.
Plan limits that actually matter
Not every Flow feature sits on every plan. The "Send HTTP request" action — the one that lets a workflow talk to something outside Shopify — needs Grow or above. Tasks built from custom partner apps are Plus-only. We check your plan before designing anything, so you're never shown an automation your store's plan can't actually run.

A workflow firing on the wrong orders does more damage than having no workflow at all, so nothing goes live untested.
